Acorn’s You’re Killing Me Season 2 Is Officially Happening: Here’s What We Know

If there is one thing cozy mystery television has taught us, it is that moving to a pretty little town is rarely a good idea!

The scenery may be lovely, everybody knows everybody, and there is probably a very nice bakery somewhere nearby. Unfortunately, the local murder rate is normally terrible.

That is certainly the case in Founders’ Cove, Maine, the setting for Acorn TV’s new mystery comedy You’re Killing Me.

The series stars Brooke Shields as bestselling mystery writer Allison “Allie” Chandler, who finds herself doing rather more detective work than she ever expected.

She is joined by Andrea “Andi” Walker, an aspiring writer and true crime podcaster played by Amalia Williamson. Add a somewhat frustrated local detective, Jack Kerrigan, to the mix, and you have all the ingredients for a very easy-to-watch murder mystery series.

The first season arrived on Acorn TV in the US in May 2026, and British viewers can now watch all six episodes through U&Drama and the U streaming service.

Better still, anyone reaching the end and wanting more already has some good news. Season 2 is officially on the way!!

You’re Killing Me Has Been Renewed for Season 2

Acorn TV confirmed the renewal remarkably early. Brooke Shields and Amalia Williamson announced the news on May 28, 2026, during an appearance at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas.

At that point, the series had only been running for around two weeks. However, there was a pretty good reason for Acorn TV to make its decision quickly.

According to the network, You’re Killing Me became Acorn TV’s number one series launch of all time for both subscriber acquisition and viewership following its May 18th premiere.

That makes the second season much less surprising, although it is still nice to know we will not be saying goodbye to Allie and Andi after just six mysteries.

So what do we actually know about Season 2?

It will once again contain six hour-long episodes, and production is due to begin later in 2026. The action will also return to Founders’ Cove, so the show is not packing Allie off to some completely different murder-filled corner of America.

And, before you ask, there is no confirmed Season 2 release date yet. That said, Acorn TV is quite consistent with its renewal timing, so I’m going out on a limb and guessing we’ll see our leading ladies back in May 2027.

For the moment, we will simply have to accept that Founders’ Cove probably has several future murderers quietly going about their business.

What Is You’re Killing Me About?

At the center of the series is Allie Chandler. Allie has built a very successful career writing mystery novels, but when we meet her at a writers’ convention, her book sales are starting to decline.

Then something far more worrying happens. A close friend dies in suspicious circumstances, and Allie becomes convinced there is more to the death than the official explanation suggests.

Her years spent creating fictional crimes suddenly prove rather useful when she begins looking at a real one. That investigation brings her into contact with Andi Walker, a younger aspiring writer who also hosts a true crime podcast.

Allie and Andi do not instantly become best friends. In fact, the difference between them is a big part of the comedy.

Allie comes at mysteries from the point of view of someone who has spent years constructing fictional killers, suspects and motives. Andi belongs to the podcast generation, where real cases are researched, discussed and picked apart by thousands of listeners.

Eventually, they realize they are rather good at this together, and Brooke Shields has said that the relationship between the two women was always at the heart of the idea for the series, rather than simply making them another mother-and-daughter style pairing.

What Happened in Season 1?

Season 1 contains six main episodes, with Allie and Andi quickly learning that solving one suspicious death does not mean life in Founders’ Cove is going to become peaceful. Far from it.

The opening episode introduces the death of Allie’s friend and her uneasy relationship with Andi and newly arrived police detective Jack Kerrigan, played by Tom Cavanagh.

By Episode 2, Andi has started working with Allie, just in time for a wedding being held at Allie’s home. Naturally, somebody dies before the happy couple can get married.

Then things become even more personal in The Copycat, when somebody begins carrying out murders inspired by Allie’s own books. Having readers copy your recipes or decorating ideas is one thing. Having somebody recreate your fictional murders is rather less flattering.

The fourth episode sends Allie and Andi to cabins in the woods, supposedly so they can get some writing done. That plan does not last very long when Andi believes she has witnessed a murder and nobody believes her.

Episode 5 brings the world of true crime podcasts even further into the story when an interview with popular podcaster Dean Starkweather becomes linked to another suspicious death.

Finally, The Road Trip sees Allie and Andi searching for Andi’s mother while Jack and Noah investigate the discovery of another body.

The story also gives viewers more information about Andi’s past and leaves plenty of room for the characters and their relationships to continue developing next season.

Who Is in the Cast of You’re Killing Me?

Brooke Shields plays Allie Chandler, the successful mystery author who learns that writing murders and solving them are two very different occupations.

Opposite her is Amalia Williamson as Andi Walker, the younger writer and true crime podcaster who gradually becomes Allie’s crime-solving partner. Williamson will already be familiar to some viewers from Sullivan’s Crossing.

Then there is Tom Cavanagh as Detective Jack Kerrigan, the new lead detective in Founders’ Cove. Jack has arrived from the city and is still getting used to small-town life, something made slightly harder by having two amateur detectives regularly involving themselves in his cases.

Cavanagh is probably best known to many viewers from The Flash and Ed.

The wider first-season cast also includes Jason Diaz as Noah Santiago, Robert Bazzocchi as Oliver Shore and Jefferson Brown as Kevin Walker, along with a number of guest characters appearing in the individual murder stories.

Is This Just A Modern Murder, She Wrote?

Brooke Shields has openly named Murder, She Wrote as one of the shows she loves, alongside Matlock and Only Murders in the Building.

She said she wanted You’re Killing Me to have that same kind of lighter mystery feel, with suspense and murder but without lots of gore or a very dark tone.

There are some very obvious Jessica Fletcher links too. Allie Chandler is a successful mystery novelist living in a small New England community where murders seem to happen with suspicious regularity.

TV Insider even described Allie as having “more than a little in common” with Angela Lansbury’s Jessica Fletcher!

Perhaps the most interesting confirmation comes from creator Robin Bernheim. In an interview about how the series came together, she said Acorn and AMC had an appetite for something in the Murder, She Wrote style.

The main difference here is that instead of one amateur sleuth, You’re Killing Me pairs its mystery novelist with a younger true crime podcaster, giving it a fresher spin.

Founders’ Cove Is Staying Dangerous for a Little Longer

There are plenty of serious crime dramas around, but sometimes you want a murder mystery where the mystery itself is important without everything becoming too dark. That is the space You’re Killing Me is aiming for.

There is the small Maine town, an amateur detective, a mystery novelist who knows far too much about fictional murder, a true crime podcaster who knows rather too much about real murder, and a police detective who would probably have a much quieter job if both women simply stayed out of the investigating business!

Thankfully, they clearly have no intention of doing that.

With Season 2 confirmed and another six episodes planned, Allie and Andi will be back investigating whatever suspicious deaths Founders’ Cove manages to produce next.
