Confirmed! Fans of Agatha Christie Get New Tommy and Tuppence Series in 2026
Last Updated on April 22, 2026
For nearly a century, Tommy and Tuppence have captured the hearts of readers as one of Agatha Christie’s most charming and spirited detective duos.
These beloved characters – Tommy Beresford, thoughtful and steady, and Prudence “Tuppence” Cowley, sharp-witted and adventurous – burst onto the page just after World War I, eager for excitement and a spot of intrigue.
Now, their infectious curiosity and clever companionship are set for a fresh revival with a brand-new BritBox adaptation for a new generation of cozy mystery fans.
The upcoming series gives these iconic sleuths a contemporary twist, with Josh Dylan (The Buccaneers) stepping into Tommy’s sensible shoes, and Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor) bringing Tuppence’s spark to life.
Set in modern-day Britain but infused with all the warmth and romance of their original tales, this new show is definitely going to be one to watch when it is released next year.
What We Know So Far

BritBox has commissioned a new series that brings back Agatha Christie’s much-loved sleuths, Tommy and Tuppence. The duo will return as a crime-solving couple whose cases intertwine with their on-again, off-again romance.
The cast includes Imelda Staunton as Aunt Ada, Tommy’s sharp-tongued but warm-hearted relative, adding a mix of humour and comfort to the intrigue. Viewers can expect a balance of suspense, wit, and the unmistakable chemistry that has defined Tommy and Tuppence for generations.
The six-part limited series is being produced by Lookout Point, the company behind Happy Valley, in association with Agatha Christie Limited. BritBox is leading the project in the UK, while BBC Studios will handle international distribution. That makes it likely the series will reach audiences outside BritBox, although the exact platforms and dates have not yet been confirmed.
Filming is due to begin in autumn 2025, with the premiere scheduled for 2026.
The Original Tommy & Tuppence Books

Tommy and Tuppence are some of Christie’s most playful and spirited characters. They first appeared in The Secret Adversary (1922), venturing into detection as young adventurers seeking excitement and income.
Over five books and an array of short stories, readers follow their journey from post-war escapades, through World War II spycraft, to their golden years solving cold cases in a quaint English village.
Their mysteries blend espionage, romance, and the unexpected providing a lighter counterpoint to Christie’s more famous characters like Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.
The couple’s chemistry and banter set them apart, making their stories notably warm and engaging for fans of cozy mysteries.
Previous TV Adaptations: Partners in Crime

Before BritBox’s version, the most prominent adaptation was BBC One’s Partners in Crime (2015), starring David Walliams and Jessica Raine.
Set in 1950s Britain, it brought Tommy and Tuppence together as husband-and-wife amateur sleuths, embroiled in global dangers against the backdrop of the oncoming Cold War, with a tone blending action and Sunday comfort.
Walliams, a lifelong Christie fan, shaped Tommy as more timid, with Tuppence taking the initiative, a dynamic true to Christie’s originals.
The series adapted two stories across six episodes, highlighting both intrigue and the couple’s affectionate teamwork.
Great Addition For Cozy Mystery Fans
Unlike many detectives who go solo, Tommy and Tuppence solve mysteries as a couple, with plenty of witty exchanges, heartfelt moments, and the occasional marital squabble.
Their leap from youthful adventurers to wise, older investigators offers a rare life-spanning partnership in cozy crime fiction.
The new BritBox show promises to keep the tone lively, friendly, and engaging, inviting viewers to enjoy clever mysteries peppered with romance and humor, a perfect recipe for cozy mystery enthusiasts.

BBC Studios will be responsible for global distribution of the series, so viewers outside the current BritBox territories may find it on other broadcasters or streaming platforms depending on local arrangements.
