If ever there was an author whose works have been adapted so many times that it would make your head spin, it is Agatha Christie.

Over a hundred years after she first put pen to paper, there is no shortage of production companies that want to adapt her work.

Given the success of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out movies, which feature the lead detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), it should come as no surprise that Netflix has now gotten in on the AC action, starting with The Seven Dials Mystery.

They also have the distribution rights to Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club movie, so you can see the cozy crime trend really taking hold at the streaming platform.

So, what do we know about The Seven Dials Mystery Netflix adaptation?

First off, it’s called Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, packed with classic Christie puzzles, a feisty young sleuth, and just enough secret-society drama to make you glad you’re tucked up on the sofa instead of at a 1920s house party where the guests keep dying!

Netflix Release Date

The Netflix adaptation arrives globally on January 15, 2026, landing right in prime “blanket, snack, and one more episode” season.

It is a limited series based on the story, updated for the screen but keeping its 1925 English setting and country-house intrigue at the heart.

The show comes as a three‑episode mystery, which feels very on brand for modern Christie adaptations: long enough to breathe, short enough that you can absolutely “accidentally” finish it in a weekend.

Chimneys

If you’re unfamiliar with this particular story, let me give you a quick recap…

This is a classic whodunit featuring the lively and adventurous character Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent.

Bundle is the daughter of Lord Caterham, and the story begins with a group of wealthy young people staying at Chimneys, a large country house owned by Bundle’s father.

*For those of you keeping track, this is the same setting as Miss Marple’s The Secret of Chimneys.*

Back to the story…The group includes Gerry Wade, who is known for his habit of oversleeping.

As a prank, his friends decide to place eight alarm clocks in his room, set to go off at various times early in the morning.

However, when they go to wake him, they find Gerry dead, apparently of a drug overdose.

Though the death is initially ruled as accidental, Bundle becomes suspicious.

Her curiosity is piqued further when she later hears of a secret society called the Seven Dials, which seems connected to Gerry’s death.

Determined to uncover the truth, Bundle takes it upon herself to investigate.

As she digs deeper, Bundle encounters a series of strange events, coded messages, and shadowy figures that all seem to point towards a larger conspiracy, solving the case in the process.

The Main Players

Now that you have the gist of the plot, let’s turn our attention to who will play the characters in the Netflix series.

At the center of it all is Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, played by Mia McKenna‑Bruce, who steps into the role of a young aristocrat with more curiosity than is strictly advisable for her continued safety.

Bundle is lively, inquisitive, and not remotely interested in sitting quietly in the drawing room while the men talk about “serious matters,” which instantly makes her feel like the sort of heroine cozy mystery fans tend to adopt on sight.

Her mother, Lady Caterham, is played by Helena Bonham Carter, bringing all the experience you would expect from someone who has spent a good chunk of her career wearing fabulous costumes and raising an eyebrow at people.

Lady Caterham represents the older generation of privilege and propriety, but she is also deeply entangled in the world that produced this very awkward murder.

Then there is Superintendent Battle, played by Martin Freeman, who turns up from Scotland Yard to investigate what is supposed to be a straightforward case and finds himself dragged into a web of secret meetings and coded clues.

Battle is steady, methodical, and occasionally exasperated by Bundle, which is exactly the dynamic you want between a seasoned detective and an enthusiastic amateur who keeps finding clues before he does.

Helping Bundle investigate will be Edward Bluemel as Jimmy Thesiger.

The mammoth task of adapting the book has fallen to Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall. He will also executive produce the series alongside Suzanne Mackie and Chris Sussman.

Between them, they have worked on The Crown, Good Omens, and Behind Her Eyes, so I’m very confident that Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials will be right up there as another iconic show.

Bring it all to life will be director Chris Sweeney, who previously worked on The Tourist and Back to Life.

So with a raft of talent on screen as well as behind it, I cannot wait for this show to drop.

Why It Fits A Cozy Mood

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials leans into period style: 1920s fashion, grand English interiors, and the contrast between glittering parties and the rather less glamorous business of murder investigations.

The adaptation keeps its focus on Bundle’s personal journey as she digs into the mystery, with a blend of suspense, dry humor, and emotional beats rather than constant high‑octane peril.

For cozy mystery fans, it offers that familiar comfort: a world of danger at arm’s length, where logic, courage, and a slightly nosy heroine can restore order by the final episode.

If you like your crime viewing with vintage flair, an amateur sleuth you can root for, and just enough menace to make you glad your own alarm clocks are purely decorative, this Netflix take on Seven Dials is one to pop straight onto your watchlist.

Other Bundle Brent Novels and Stories

Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent is one of Agatha Christie’s most vibrant and daring characters.

She brings a different energy to Christie’s stories, given her youthful curiosity and fearlessness, and first appears in The Secret of Chimneys (1925).

Even in this debut, her personality shines through. She is quick-witted, independent, and unafraid to take action.

Unlike many of Christie’s other female characters, who are more methodical and deliberate in their investigations, Bundle actively pursues mysteries.

What makes Bundle particularly interesting is how she reflects a different aspect of Christie’s writing.

Christie often explores the theme of the “accidental detective,” where an ordinary person, through sheer force of circumstance and will, ends up solving a crime.

Bundle embodies this theme perfectly, and while she isn’t a professional detective or a seasoned amateur like Miss Marple, her tenacity and boldness make her an effective investigator.

She may not possess the meticulous detective skills of Poirot or the gentle wisdom of Miss Marple, but her determination and spirit make her just as formidable.

Novels featuring Bundle Brent:

The Secret of Chimneys (1925)

The Seven Dials Mystery (1929)

It really is a shame that Bundle is only featured in two Agatha Christie novels.

While there was never a specific answer as to why she didn’t extend the series, it’s possible that Bundle’s style of adventure-driven mystery did not align as well with the more classic whodunits that Christie’s readers were coming to expect.

She never quite hit the heights of popularity as seen with Poirot or Miss Marple, but maybe this new adaptation will change all of that.
