Fans of cozy crime dramas, rejoice! The beloved sleuthing trio from Marlow are officially returning with The Marlow Murder Club season 3, following a hugely successful second outing that drew in over 2 million viewers.

After captivating audiences with its debut, The Marlow Murder Club’s second season delivered even more intrigue, wit, and small-town charm.

The show’s unique blend of humor and mystery, coupled with its focus on three unlikely amateur detectives – Judith Potts (Samantha Bond), Suzie Harris (Jo Martin), and Becks Starling (Cara Horgan) – has firmly established it as a standout in the cozy crime genre.

Season 2 expanded the format to six one-hour episodes, allowing for three separate murder mysteries, each told over two episodes.

The opening story adapted Robert Thorogood’s Death Comes to Marlow, while the remaining episodes introduced new, original mysteries.

The chemistry between the main cast and the addition of high-profile guest stars kept fans guessing and coming back for more.

Season 3: Date Announced

the queen of poisons

With the show’s popularity soaring, UKTV wasted no time in renewing The Marlow Murder Club for a third season.

UK cozy crime fans don’t have long to wait – The Marlow Murder Club season 3 is officially set to premiere on Wednesday 18 March on U and U&Drama in the UK, with the sleuthing trio back on our screens at 8pm.

For US viewers, season 3 is confirmed to arrive on MASTERPIECE on PBS in 2026, although an exact American air date has not yet been announced.

As with previous seasons, it’s expected to stream via PBS, PBS Masterpiece, and Prime Video once it launches stateside, so fans will still be able to follow Judith, Suzie, and Becks’s latest adventures – just a little later than UK audiences.

The first two episodes of Season 3 will adapt Thorogood’s third novel, Queen of Poisons.

These episodes are co-written by Daniel Rusteau and two-time Sunday Times bestselling author Robert Thorogood himself, ensuring a faithful and thrilling translation from page to screen.

Amy Reith will pen episodes three and four, while Julia Gilbert (known for her work on Ridley and Midsomer Murders) takes the reins for episodes five and six.

What To Expect From Our Sleuthing Trio

Judith, Suzie, and Becks are now an established part of newly promoted DI Tanika Malik’s crime-solving team and are back in action, bringing their unconventional methods to a string of high-profile murders.

From the sudden death of the nicest man in Marlow, the town’s beloved Mayor, to a celebrity chef found dead at the launch of his cookbook with half the town in attendance, the team will be working under the watchful eye of the Marlow community.

They’ll also be called to action at a university reunion in an eerie manor house, where, in a surprising twist, Becks finds herself amongst the suspects. Uh oh!

Expect plenty of tricky puzzles, a terrific friendship, and lots of fun.

Behind the Scenes

The creative team behind The Marlow Murder Club remains committed to keeping the series fresh and engaging.

On the announcement of Season 3, Claire Hookway, commissioning executive for UKTV, shared:

“Following the huge success of the first two series, we’re thrilled to return with another instalment where Judith, Suzie, Becks, and our police team are faced with three puzzling new mysteries to solve.

“We’re excited to treat the audience to more joyous fun in the beautiful town of Marlow, with many surprises and clever twists in store.”

Why The Marlow Murder Club Stands Out

The Marlow Murder Club is part of a broader trend of cozy crime dramas, but it stands apart thanks to its focus on older women as protagonists.

In an industry that often sidelines older actresses, this series puts them front and center, showcasing their wit, wisdom, and adventurous spirits.

The dynamic between Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, and Cara Horgan has been widely praised, and Natalie Dew’s DI Tanika Malik continues to provide a sharp, official counterpoint to the trio’s unconventional methods.

With Season 3 on the horizon, there’s plenty for fans to look forward to. The adaptation of Queen of Poisons promises more devilishly clever puzzles, and the addition of new writers ensures fresh twists and surprises.

And for those who can’t get enough of Marlow’s mysteries, the literary world is keeping pace: the fourth book in the series, Murder on the Marlow Belle, was released in January, and undoubtedly Robert Thorogood is already working on the next installment.

Where to Watch

For now, you can catch up on the first two seasons in the UK on Drama (free-to-air) and UKTV Play (streaming).

For those of you watching from the US, you can enjoy all the goings on in Marlow on PBS Masterpiece.

Eagerly Waiting

With its blend of clever mysteries, endearing characters, and the idyllic backdrop of Marlow, The Marlow Murder Club continues to charm audiences and critics alike.

Season 2’s record-breaking viewership proves the appetite for cozy crime is stronger than ever, and Season 3 looks set to deliver even more of what fans love.

As we await the return of Judith, Suzie, and Becks, one thing is certain: Marlow’s secrets are far from solved, and this unstoppable trio has plenty more adventures ahead.
