Fans of cozy crime dramas have reason to celebrate as the hit series, The Madame Blanc Mysteries, finally has an Acorn release date for a fourth season.

The show, which has captured audiences with its blend of mystery, humor, and picturesque settings, continues to grow in popularity with each new installment, and season four is bigger and better than ever.

For fans who long to carry the charm of Saint Victor with them, Custom Patches are the perfect tribute to the show.

Custom Patches transform the most beloved elements from the series into souvenirs you can touch, wear, and share. Every stitch reminds you of Jean’s courage, the town’s charm, and the heartwarming mystery that made Madame Blanc so beloved—a precious keepsake for every fan.

If you haven’t already watched the show then let me catch you up with the story so far…

Meet Jean White

Jean White (Sally Lindsay) is a Manchester-based antiques dealer whose life takes an unexpected turn when her husband, Rory, suddenly dies.

The series begins with Jean discovering that not only has she lost her husband but also that their successful antiques business is in ruins, with all their money gone and their shop mortgaged to the hilt.

With her world turned upside down, Jean learns that the only asset remaining is a cottage in the fictional French village of Sainte Victoire.

So she heads to France determined to uncover the truth about her husband’s death, only to find out that he was supposedly married to somebody else, and she had no clue.

Realising that she hasn’t got much waiting for her back in Manchester, Jean decides to stay and investigate the disappearance of their wealth but soon finds herself embroiled in a series of intriguing mysteries.

Acorn Release Date

So I know that many of you fans have been a little miffed by how long it has taken the newest episodes to drop on Acorn, and I get it!

Similar to the way Britbox works, depending on the licencing agreements, some shows air in the UK first before they hit their respective streaming platform.

As all episodes have now dropped on Channel 5 (UK), the good news is that they will finally arrive on Acorn on…July 7th 2025.

Hurrahhhh!

Looking Ahead to Season 4

With the announcement of a fourth season, fans are eagerly anticipating what new adventures await Jean White and her friends in Sainte Victoire.

As expected, we will be treated to another six episodes, but, in even better news, there is also a Christmas Special that aired on Channel 5 in the UK before streaming on Acorn.

All of the usual faces are be back, and if you are based in the UK, you’ve probably already caught up with all of the new episodes on Channel 5.

Seasons two and three of the show both started airing in the first week of January but season four took a little longer as filming only began at the end of August 2024.

Sally Lindsay said in a statement: “I think if you had told me five years ago when I came up with the idea of Madame Blanc that in the not too distant future, our show would be not only a hit in the United Kingdom but America, Australia, Canada (to name but a few), I would have been astounded. But, amazingly, it is!

“And our team could not be more thrilled to bring you a brand new season of sunshine, laughs and antiques.

“All the gang are back with some more fantastic surprise guests visiting Sainte Victoire and we can’t wait for you all to enjoy soon.”

A Quirky Bunch of Expats

At the heart of the show is Jean White, portrayed brilliantly by Sally Lindsay, who also co-created and co-wrote the series.

Jean is a clever and resourceful antiques expert who uses her knowledge to solve crimes and help the local police.

In case you’re wondering, Sainte Victoire is famed for its antique stores, so it’s no surprise that Jean fits in so easily.

Another key character is Dom (Steve Edge), a local taxi driver who becomes Jean’s friend and sidekick in her investigations. He has his own problems and the two become fast friends as they depend on each other more and more.

Other characters include Gloria (Sue Vincent), the village mechanic, Judith (Sue Holderness) and Jeremy (Robin Askwith), a wealthy couple who own a chateau and André Caron (Alex Gaumond), the head of the local police.

Between them, they can solve just about any crime that takes place in the otherwise quiet and quaint French town.

The Mysteries

If you haven’t figured it out by now, it’s called Madame Blanc because that is French for ‘Mrs White’ – as in Jean White.

It’s exactly the same for the Acorn show Signora Volpe in which the lead character is called Sylvia Fox – and Volpe is the Italian for Fox.

Anyway, each episode of The Madame Blanc Mysteries presents a new case for Jean to solve, often involving valuable antiques or local secrets.

The show cleverly weaves Jean’s expertise in antiques into the plot, using historical artifacts as central elements in many of the mysteries.

For example, in one episode, Jean helps a woman named Eleanor decipher a riddle left by her mother in an antique book, believed to lead to hidden riches.

Another case involves a potentially fake Jacqueline Marval painting, showcasing Jean’s keen eye for authenticity.

While solving these standalone cases, Jean also continues to investigate the overarching mystery of her husband’s death and the disappearance of their fortune.

A Surprising Film Location

While The Madame Blanc Mysteries is set in the fictional village of Sainte Victoire in the South of France, the actual filming locations might surprise viewers.

Despite the show’s French setting, it is primarily filmed in Malta and Gozo.

The decision to film in Malta came after complications arose with the original plan to shoot in France.

Sally Lindsay was initially skeptical about the change but was won over by the locations.

She told Entertainment Daily, “We got the ferry to Gozo, but it was unbelievable – literally just a tiny drive in and it was like we were in the South of France.

“Even our French actors thought it looked like France!”

Many scenes are filmed in the town of Sannat in Gozo, which provides a stunning backdrop for the series with the town square featuring prominently.

Popularity and Where to Watch

Like all cozy mystery shows that we know and love, where you can watch this one will depend entirely on where you live in the world.

For most fans it is available internationally on Acorn TV whereas in the UK it is also on Channel 5.

The first season debuted in 2021, attracting more than 1.5 million viewers and the show’s success can be attributed to its winning formula of engaging mysteries, beautiful locations, and a cast of likable characters.

It is perfect light-hearted entertainment with plenty of intriguing puzzles, making it ideal for when you want some easy, breezy TV.

    1. Sometimes, shows are distributed by different companies in different countries. So in the UK, Madame Blanc Mysteries airs on a local channel first, then it goes to Acorn in the US. I know it’s disappointing but hopefully the guys at Acorn US will add it soon.
