Last Updated on April 22, 2026
The Madame Blanc Mysteries is back with a feature-length Christmas special for 2025, and fans of this charming British cozy crime series are in for a festive treat!
Not content with just one episode, oh no, this year we are getting a bumper edition with a two-parter airing November 30th and December 1st on Acorn internationally, followed by December 15th and 22nd on Channel 5 in the UK.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s find out what it’s all about as we count down the days until Jean White returns to your screens…
Christmas Special 2025: Plot and What to Expect
In true holiday fashion, the Christmas special gathers Jean, played by Sally Lindsay, alongside Dom, Judith, Jeremy, and the rest of the gang at a glamorous Christmas Eve event at the Musée de Sainte Victoire.
Just as Jean prepares to authenticate a rare treasure – an Ormolu box believed to have belonged to Marie Antoinette – a shocking discovery throws the festivities into chaos. Inside the artifact is a ticking bomb.
With the museum locked down and a tight 90-minute countdown, it’s Jean’s most dangerous case yet as she races against time to avert disaster and keep her friends safe.
The two-part special will retain the cozy crime spirit that fans adore, blending suspense, character banter, and holiday warmth with high stakes in a French art museum.
Meet the Characters and Cast
The series pivots around Jean White, an antiques expert and amateur sleuth portrayed by creator Sally Lindsay.
Jean’s intelligence and warmth have made her a staple in cozy mystery fandom. Her loyal friend-turned-romantic-interest Dom, played by Steve Edge, brings comic relief and down-to-earth wisdom.
The ever-glamorous Judith and the affable Jeremy, alongside Chief of Police Caron (Alex Gaumond), the vibrant Gloria (Sue Vincent), and Uncle Patrick (Sir Tony Robinson), round out the close-knit group.
However, we do have a few new faces for this year’s special, so let’s give a big welcome to guest stars John Thomson, Kacey Ainsworth, Raji James, and Manjinder Virk, who are all set to deliver memorable performances.
The Hit That Keeps On Giving

Since debuting in 2021, The Madame Blanc Mysteries has become one of Channel 5’s most successful original dramas, regularly drawing around 2.5 million viewers per episode.
It’s just as successful internationally on Acorn, where audiences are drawn by its gently humorous writing, mystery-of-the-week format, and sense of community, which echo the appeal of classics like Midsomer Murders and Death in Paradise.
The show’s blend of beautiful Mediterranean vistas and lighthearted whodunit plots makes it a soothing comfort watch with just the right dose of intrigue.
The Story So Far
Jean White’s sleuthing journey began after the sudden loss of her husband, Rory.
While coping with grief, she moves from the UK to the fictional French village of Sainte Victoire, only to discover Rory’s tangled secrets, shady dealings, and, soon enough, her knack for unraveling mysteries.
Each season brings new criminal puzzles involving antiques, art forgery, and local scandals, always with Jean’s quick wit and unique expertise at the center.
Over time, her friendships with Dom, Judith, and Jeremy deepen, offering warmth and humor amidst the show’s cases.
Setting the Scene

Although the story is set in southern France’s fictional Sainte Victoire, the show is filmed almost entirely on Gozo, Malta’s sister island.
This sunny Mediterranean location stands in for the picturesque village and its stunning art museum, main square, and Jean’s much-loved stone cottage.
Gozo has enchanted viewers and visitors alike; it’s possible to stay in the actual villa used for Jean’s home – a favorite detail among the show’s devoted fans.
Sally Lindsay herself fell in love with the Maltese village of Sannat, and it remains the heart of Sainte Victoire on screen, from its friendly squares to the museum at the center of the new Christmas special.
Show’s Popularity and Future
The Madame Blanc Mysteries’ blend of escapism, mystery, and gentle humor has proven a winning formula for Channel 5 and Acorn.
The series’s strong following means that viewers look forward to both main series runs and the annual Christmas specials, which have become a beloved holiday tradition, much like festive episodes in other British mystery shows.
Fans can stream all past seasons and specials on Channel 5’s site, catching up in time for the two-part holiday event.
Roll On December 15
With its 2025 Christmas special, The Madame Blanc Mysteries offers a perfect end-of-year treat.
From the ticking clock tension in a locked museum to the beloved faces and Mediterranean backdrops, this year’s festive two-parter captures everything that has made the show a cozy crime favorite.
I’ll be following Jean, Dom, and the gang as they try to solve their most explosive case yet and look forward to sharing more cozy crime content with you!
Whether you’re a returning fan or new to Sainte Victoire, this Christmas promises classic mystery fun with a holiday twist.
