When I say that I spend almost all of my free time immersed in puzzles, mysteries and cozy crime novels, I’m not exaggerating.

I, like most people, have become a little too accustomed to the daily plod. There’s no shame in admitting that the hamster wheel of life can be a little monotonous. And we all need a little escape every now and then.

For me, that is cozy mysteries, more specifically solving them. I don’t care if it’s a book, TV show (I’m currently re-visiting Lewis), movie or even a puzzle book. If there is a puzzle to be solved, I’m your girl!

That is also why, when it comes to cozy mysteries on Netflix, I have pretty much watched them all. They tend to have a little more grit or better production value than those found on Hallmark and with bigger Hollywood A-listers, though Hallmark does have a much bigger range of films overall.

So that said, let’s go through what’s available, and maybe you’ll even come across one or two you haven’t seen already.

Murder Mystery & Murder Mystery 2 – Netflix US & UK

cozy mysteries on netflix

This is a two-for-one deal if you fancy a proper cozy mystery binge.

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston star in this comedic take on the classic whodunit.

The story follows a New York cop, Nick, and his hairdresser wife, Audrey, as they embark on a European vacation that takes an unexpected turn.

When they’re invited to a billionaire’s yacht party, they find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation.

With its beautiful Mediterranean settings and a cast of eccentric suspects, Murder Mystery offers a lighthearted romp through the world of high-society crime.

The sequel is set about five years later when the couple have started their own detective agency.

This time around, the couple are invited to a glamorous destination wedding, where the groom is kidnapped.

Both are very funny and well worth a watch.

Enola Holmes – Netflix US & UK

We go back in time for this one as Enola Holmes, the younger sister to Sherlock and Mycroft, goes on her own adventure.

When her mother disappears, Enola sets off to find her, outsmarting her famous brother and unraveling a dangerous conspiracy in the process.

Set in Victorian London, this film combines witty dialogue, clever puzzles, and a touch of feminism, making it a refreshing addition to the Holmes canon.

Clearly, it was a hit for Netflix, who quickly ordered a sequel where Enola is on the search for a missing girl.

While doing so, she uncovers a dangerous conspiracy and teams up with friends and family to crack the case.

The Pale Blue Eye – Netflix US & UK

I’ve included this on the list, though to be honest, I’m not sure if it fits the ‘cozy mystery’ brief. After all, it’s based on Edgar Allan Poe who wasn’t exactly known for his cheerful disposition.

Anyway, if you don’t mind your mysteries a little more on the dark side, then The Pale Blue Eye is a really great film.

It is set in 1830 at West Point military academy, and follows a veteran detective (Christian Bale) investigating a series of murders with the help of a young Edgar Allan Poe.

With its period setting, central mystery and literary connections, it is an intriguing watch for fans of historical mysteries.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery – Netflix US & UK

Glass Onion

While not strictly a “cozy” mystery, this star-studded sequel to Knives Out brings enough charm and humor to qualify.

Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) finds himself on a Greek island, solving a murder during a billionaire’s getaway.

With its stunning locations, intricate plot, and cast, including Kate Hudson and Edward Norton, Glass Onion is an incredibly stylish whodunnit from the mastermind that is Rian Johnson.

Johnson also created the hit mystery show Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne – gem of a series.

The Sleepover – Netflix US & UK

While marketed as a family adventure, this film has strong cozy mystery elements.

Two siblings discover their seemingly ordinary mother is actually a former high-stakes thief forced out of retirement for one last job.

As the kids and their friends embark on an overnight adventure to rescue their parents, they unravel clues and solve puzzles, making it a fun, family-friendly mystery.

The Nice Guys – Netflix US

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, this comedy-mystery pairs Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling as a mismatched duo investigating a missing person’s case that spirals into a complex conspiracy.

While it features more action than typical cozy mysteries, its humor, period setting, and unlikely detective pairing make it a fun watch for mystery enthusiasts.

Confess, Fletch – Netflix UK

Sadly, not currently available on Netflix US, Confess, Fletch follows Fletch (Jon Hamm) who is sent to Boston from Italy by his girlfriend Angela (Lorenza Izzo) to recover her father’s multi-million-dollar art collection.

Unfortunately, he becomes the prime suspect in a murder case while searching for the collection.

The only way to prove his innocence? Find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit.

This is definitely more of a comedy than a drama but has all the fun elements to still be considered a cozy mystery.

Not in English

While I have no problem watching movies in other languages, I know not everybody wants the hassle of having to read subtitles.

However, if that doesn’t bother you, there are some cracking cozy mysteries on Netflix in Polish, Italian and Spanish.

In for a Murder (Polish) – Netflix US & UK

This comedy-mystery follows Magda, a small-town girl and crime novel enthusiast who finds herself embroiled in a real-life murder case.

As she investigates alongside a handsome police officer, Magda puts her amateur sleuthing skills to the test.

With its charming small-town setting and great lead character, this film embodies many beloved cozy mystery tropes.

A Deadly Invitation (Spanish) – Netflix US & UK

Recently divorced for the fifth time and now broke, Olivia sends her half sister Agatha, and a group of old acquaintances, a mysterious invitation for a weekend on her yacht.

There’s a secret behind the invite but when somebody unexpectedly dies, and with the help of a rookie policeman, Agatha must try to figure out if this is merely an accident or an elaborate plan for revenge.

Inheritance (Polish) – Netflix US & UK

When a very wealthy and eccentric inventor suddenly passes away, a family of bickering oddballs gathers with hopes of inheriting his fortune.

To everyone’s surprise, he had already prepared one last game for them. And the winner gets his inheritance.

To win though they must solve a series of tasks and puzzles, testing their ability to reconcile and work together.

7 Women and A Murder (Italian) – Netflix US & UK

Set in Milan at Christmas, Susanna returns to her countryside home as her family is supposed to spend a few days together.

There is the maid Maria, her father, Marcello, her mother, Margherita, grandmother Rachele, and sisters Agostina and Caterina.

When Marcello is murdered in his bedroom, the six women know that one of them is a killer but can’t get help due to a snowstorm.

Then they are joined by a seventh woman, Veronica, and soon they are all trying to figure out who’s the killer and why.

A Cozy Night In with Netflix

Netflix’s selection of cozy mysteries offers something for every fan of the genre.

From traditional whodunits to more modern interpretations, these films provide the perfect blend of intrigue, charm, and comfort.

Whether you’re in the mood for a period piece, a comedy, or a family-friendly adventure, there’s a cozy mystery waiting for you to solve from the comfort of your couch.
