4. Read It and Weep (2013)

Briar Creek’s community theater is preparing for a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, giving Lindsey a front-row seat to rehearsals and backstage drama.

But the show takes a deadly turn when renowned actor Robbie Pine collapses and dies during rehearsal.

5. On Borrowed Time (2014)

Coffee-loving Lindsey finds her favorite drink taking on a much more alarming role when her brother Jack disappears.

Jack works as a consultant for a coffee company, and his disappearance sends Lindsey into a mystery that becomes increasingly personal.

6. A Likely Story (2015)

When two reclusive brothers become the center of a tangled mystery, Lindsey faces both a murder investigation and a missing-person case.

The story takes her beyond the routine demands of running Briar Creek’s library and into the complicated history surrounding the brothers, who have spent years apart from the rest of the community.

Lindsey must work out what happened, who is hiding what, and how the past connects to the present-day crime.

7. Better Late Than Never (2016)

The Briar Creek Public Library’s first overdue-book amnesty day sounds like a harmless, reader-friendly event.

With no fines for late returns, though, Lindsey and her staff are swamped by returned materials, including one item that is more than 20 years overdue.

That long-lost book points Lindsey toward an old mystery and a cold case that someone may not want reopened…

8. Death in the Stacks (2017)

9. Hitting the Books (2018)

A hit-and-run case becomes library business when a stack of library materials is found at the scene.

The police want to identify who borrowed the books and determine whether that person might be connected to the stolen car and the victim, tennis coach Theresa Houston.

10. Word to the Wise (2019)

Lindsey is preparing to marry Sully, but wedding plans are interrupted by a troubling newcomer named Aaron Grady.

A gardening enthusiast with an unsettling obsession with Lindsey, Aaron’s inappropriate behavior and late-night visits make everyone around her uneasy.

It is a tense entry in the series that puts Lindsey’s home life and long-awaited wedding plans at the center of the mystery.

11. One for the Books (2020)

Newlyweds Lindsey and Sully are enjoying married life until librarian and mayoral candidate Ms. Cole finds a former boyfriend, and founder of Nana’s Cookies, murdered in her trunk.

But collecting the books from the old Victorian estate takes a grim turn when a secret passage leads to a hidden room and a skeleton holding a copy of Edgar Allan Poe’s collected works.

With help from the crafternoon crew, she sets out to solve a murder that has gone unanswered for decades.

14. Fatal First Edition (2024)

Rare books bring danger to Briar Creek when people begin dying over a valuable first edition. For Lindsey, a library director who understands the emotional and financial pull of extraordinary books, the mystery has an especially fitting setting.

15. A Merry Little Murder Plot (2024)

Christmas in Briar Creek should mean celebrations, seasonal traditions, and plenty of holiday spirit.

Instead, famous author Helen Monroe arrives as the town’s writer-in-residence, bringing a distinctly “bah humbug” attitude with her.
