It never ceases to amaze me just how profoundly talented some people are. Take, for example, Freida McFadden, one of the biggest-selling authors in the world today.

Real name Sara Cohen, she is a New York Times, Amazon Charts, and USA Today bestselling author of twist‑filled psychological thrillers and a practicing physician who specializes in brain injury.

Since self‑publishing her debut over a decade ago, McFadden has written more than two dozen novels and sold upwards of 30 million copies worldwide, with her books translated into more than 40 languages and dominating Kindle and print bestseller lists on both sides of the Atlantic.

Her breakout hit, The Housemaid, has sold more than 2 million copies on its own and helped cement her reputation for jaw‑dropping final‑act twists.

Hollywood has come calling too: The Housemaid and several other novels, including The Surrogate Mother and The Tenant, are in development for film or television, with high‑profile casts and major studios attached.

She’s a busy woman, that’s for sure, but not so busy that she can’t find the time to pen her next novel.

So what is it? And when is it due to be published? Let’s find out…

The Divorce – Freida McFadden Next Book

Release Date: May 26, 2026

McFadden generally writes standalone mysteries and psychological thrillers, and The Divorce is the latest.

The story follows Naomi who thought she had the perfect love story: romance, marriage, a dream house, a growing family.

Then her husband throws her out, empties their accounts, and replaces her with a younger woman.

Everyone expects Naomi to accept defeat and rebuild quietly, but she fixates on the new girlfriend instead.

Curiosity slides into obsession, and soon Naomi is digging into secrets far more dangerous than she imagined.

As the truth unravels and her own safety is threatened, Naomi faces a terrible question: how far will she go to keep her “happily ever after” intact?

The Witch

Release Date: October 6th, 2026

This will be McFadden’s fourth published book in 2026, if you count her ‘Pick Your Poison Adventure’ – The Dinner Party, which is an interactive book where you get to choose your ending.

The Witch is due out in October 2026 and tells the story of Julia Barlow, who, after she loses her job and apartment, retreats to Pemberton, her family’s crumbling seventeenth‑century estate in rural Massachusetts.

There, she is hoping to disappear while checking on her frail grandmother. But the house has other plans.

The grandfather clock stops every night at 3:41 a.m., the lights flicker, and a desperate voice pleads outside her bedroom door.

As Julia probes Pemberton’s grim past and a woman condemned for witchcraft in 1692, buried family lies rise to the surface, and she realizes the house may be haunted by women who refuse to be silenced.

The Tenant

Just in case you haven’t previously read any of Freida McFadden’s novels, here are a couple of synopses so you get a general feel of what to expect.

Let’s look at The Tenant first…

“Blake Porter is riding high until he’s not. Fired abruptly from his job as a VP of marketing and unable to make the mortgage payments on the new brownstone that he shares with his fiancée, he’s desperate to make ends meet.

“Enter Whitney. Beautiful, charming, down-to-earth, and looking for a room to rent. She’s exactly what Blake’s looking for. Or is she?

“Because something isn’t quite right. The neighbors start treating Blake differently. The smell of decay permeates his home, no matter how hard he scrubs. Strange noises jar him awake in the middle of the night. Soon, Blake fears someone knows his darkest secrets.

“Danger lives right at home, and by the time Blake realizes it, it’ll be far too late. The trap is already set.”

The previews are already in from those who have been given advanced copies, and so far, so good, with a score of 4.24 (out of 5) on Goodreads.

It promises lots of thrills, twists, and turns, and much like all of her other books, nothing is quite as it seems…

The Crash

The Crash follows Tegan, who is eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to start a new life.

Planning to stay with her brother, she hops in the car but doesn’t realize that she’s headed straight for a blizzard and, yes, you guessed it – a crash.

Stranded, injured, and alone, things start to look very bleak until she is rescued by a couple who offer her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

Can you see where this is going yet…??? Cabin…woods…alone…snowbound…creepy couple…

This is not the safe haven she thought it was, and now Tegan must do whatever it takes to save herself and stay alive.

If you want to be chilled to the bone – The Crash is for you!

The Books Just Keep Coming

With Dear Debbie just released, The Divorce following in May 2026, and The Witch due out in October, Freida McFadden continues to demonstrate why she’s become one of the most compelling voices in psychological thrillers.

It also begs the question – does she ever sleep??? FOUR books in a year; I’m tired just thinking about it!

Her remarkable journey from self-published author to #1 New York Times bestseller, with three consecutive #1 debuts in 2024 alone, showcases her growing influence in the genre.

Her seven-book deal with Sourcebooks in 2024 ensures fans will have plenty to look forward to through 2027 and beyond.

As readers get stuck into The Divorce, they can rest assured that McFadden’s signature blend of psychological suspense, medical expertise, and masterful plotting continues to evolve, making her upcoming works some of the most anticipated releases in the thriller genre.

With her books now translated into more than forty languages, The Housemaid raking in $399.6 million at the box office worldwide, and a sequel in the works, McFadden’s star continues to rise, promising even more gripping stories for her devoted readers in the years to come.
